INTERVIEW
Maximilian Kaltenecker (CEO) about NEXUSTEC:
Can you give us an example of a successful implementation of NEXUSTEC's technology in a real, industrial environment?
"The most exciting implementation we had in 2022 was in a project in Mexico that ran completely remotely. For a large automotive supplier, we installed our assembly assistant in their plant, including integration of their bolting tool and 2 scanners. The special challenge was the time difference, the distance and also the project management with a new customer. It takes a bit of time to integrate all customer experts (IT, QA, production, IE). Nevertheless, after installing the hardware, we had the system completely up and running within two weeks."
How does NEXUSTEC's AI technology differ from other solutions on the market?
"Our software is strong in mapping complex workflows and capturing the intermediate steps. For example, with our system, we are able to correctly evaluate all sub-events (intermediate steps) during the assembly of a product and decide whether everything is ok or there is a deviation. Thus, we not only detect objects and conditions, but also support the employee in a demanding work environment not to make mistakes."
How does NEXUSTEC support customers in the implementation and use of its AI solutions?
"Our NEXUSTEC team is competently available for any concerns: hardware issues, installation or attachment questions, and of course even more so the creation and description of production workflows, "machine learning" and training of the software."
How does NEXUSTEC work with customers and partners to ensure that its solutions meet their specific needs?
"It is elementary to be able to assess the mindset and understanding of the customer (as well as suppliers). We approach projects as partners, because two worlds from production and software development meet. In other words, two teams with their respective high levels of expertise have to be "matched" with each other. I think we do a great job here of bringing joy and ease with IT projects to the project partners from the customer companies."
What do you see as the biggest challenges and opportunities in the AI industry over the next 5 years?
"The biggest challenge will be to be able to take everyone along with us on this sheer gigantic topic and also to take away the fear of it. There are so many unnecessary activities being carried out in the production area - I know this from my previous stations: Be it manual documentation, recounting/checking actions, complaint escalations due to carelessness errors. Anyone who has ever done monotonous work for several hours at a stretch knows the mental tunnel: This can be meditative, but it can also distract you from obviousness, even though you're in the best of intentions."
What message would you like to pass on to the industry regarding the potential and vision of NEXUSTEC?
"The vision of NEXUSTEC is quite clear: We want to bring digitization into the production area and thus support companies, regardless of their size, in their competitiveness. Software solutions do not have to be expensive. This is what our team works hard on, every day."
